    In another bowl, cream together the unsalted butter until smooth and creamy.

    Add the eggs, one at a time, to the butter, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.

    Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the milk. Mix until just combined.
